Dorothy E. Mattson, 85, of St. Petersburg, FL, formerly of Downingtown, passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2009 at the Consulate Health Care of Seminole, FL. She was the beloved wife of John W. Mattson, with whom she shared 65 years of friendship and marriage.

Born in Romansville, she was the daughter of the late Walter E. and Ruth "Ella" Osborn Shofstall. Dorothy was a member of the Romansville United Methodist Church, where she had served as Secretary for over 30 years and was also a member of the Women's Society of Romansville Church. She was a resident of Florida for the past seven years, where she was a member of the Crosspointe Church of Clearwater, FL.

She is survived, in addition to her husband, by her four daughters: Patricia Ryder, wife of Tom, of St. Petersburg, FL, Bonnie Smith, wife of Jerry, of Downingtown, Diane Price, wife of Michael, of Downingtown and Deborah Mattson of Downingtown; six grandchildren and eight great, grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister, Gladys Beale.

The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2009 at 3 PM at Romansville United Methodist Church, 1859 Strasburg Rd, Coatesville, followed by interment in the adjoining Cemetery.  Family and friends are invited to attend the viewing, which will be held at the Church from 2 until 3 PM.
