Elmer "Frit" Leamy Jr., 82 of Pomeroy, died on Saturday, April 18, 2009 at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia. Frit was the husband of Dorothy McWilliams Leamy, with whom he had celebrated 62 years of marriage.
Born in Pomeroy, he was the son of the late Elmer and Miranda Nunemaker Leamy. He served honorably in the US Navy during W.W.II. An area resident all of his life, he was employed as a logger until 1988; he had since been employed by the former Christiana Bowling Alley, the former Lukens Steel and the PA Turnpike. He was a member of the Pomeroy Methodist Church. He was a life member of the Parkesburg V.F.W. #4480 and the Christiana American Legion #865, the Pomeroy Fire Co. and the Brandywine - Goddard Masonic Lodge #383.
He is survived, in addition to his wife, by five children: C.G. "Jerry" Leamy, husband of Kathryn, of Bowmansville, James D. "Rip" Leamy, husband of Carol, of Coatesville, Sue Anne McNutt of Modena, Ellen I. Rice, wife of James, of Pomeroy and Randa E. Van Dyke, wife of Lawrence, of Sadsburyville; nine grandchildren, and 15 great, grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three siblings, Madeline Leamy, Evelyn Randler and Ralph Leamy.
The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2009 at 11 AM at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St., Parkesburg, followed by interment in the Upper Octorara Cemetery of Parkesburg. Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation, which will be held at Funeral Home from 9:30 until 10:45 AM. A Masonic Service will take place at 10:45 AM.

Sitting with you all and talking with Mr. Leamy on Friday, I was devasted when I heard Mr. Leamy passed on. I can tell he was really loved and had a great support system.
