Catherine S. "Minnie" Rice, 91, of West Brandywine Township, PA, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, November 20, 2023, in Coatesville, PA. She was the wife of the late James E. Rice who passed away in 2017. Born in Coatesville, she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Cornelia (Carroll) Swisher.
Catherine was an area resident for all her life. She worked for Bell Telephone and for the Coatesville Area School District where she made many life-long friends. The companions at Freedom Village who were dear to her were a great comfort. She always had a very deep faith in the Lord that guided her day by day and gave her comfort through the end. She will be dearly missed by all.
She is survived by her devoted children; Robert (Mary) Rice of Coatesville, James (Melissa) Rice of Downingtown, and Pamela (Tom) Rice of Coatesville, three grandchildren; John Rice, Rachel Cory, and Adrian Snyder, six great-grandchildren, and a sister, Amy (Paul) Hoffman of Strasburg, PA. She was preceded in death by siblings; Clyde Swisher, Leroy Swisher, Shirley Finkey, and Gerald Swisher.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 27, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. from the Parkesburg Baptist Church, 103 West St., Parkesburg, with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
