Thelma Mae Hall Gillespie, 83, of Parkesburg, PA, passed away at her home on Wednesday, June 28, 2023.  She was the wife of the late Lyle E. Gillespie Sr. who passed away in 2013.  Born in Parkesburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Edward W. and Pauline Harkins Hall.

Thelma graduated from Octorara High School in 1958 and then proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. She was a dedicated Marine, through and through, and brought that discipline into raising a family. She worked in the credit department for Citadel Federal Credit Union in Thorndale, PA.

Thelma was an avid Harley Davidson rider in her younger years and actually taught her husband how to ride.  She loved to hunt and centered family vacations around it with frequent trips to Wyoming.

She never missed an Indianapolis 500 race and was a big fan of the Penske Racing Team.  One of the biggest highlights in her life was attending a race as a VIP guest of the Penske Racing Team.

She was a member of the Parkesburg Baptist Church and the Chris Penn Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. Her biggest joy was her grandchildren.  She will be fondly remembered by her family and friends as a "mentor and tormentor".

She is survived by her children, Lyle E. Gillespie (Colleen) of Parkesburg, Tara Janssen of Parkesburg, and grandchildren, Chloe Koonce, Hannah Gillespie, Kodie Janssen, and Kolbie Janssen.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, July 10, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. from the Wilde Funeral Home, Parkesburg, with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Penningtonville Presbyterian Cemetery in Atglen, PA.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Parkesburg Baptist Church, 103 West St. Parkesburg, PA, 19365.

We will miss mammie, her contagious laugh, her sense of humor and her caring heart. We will always remember our summer carb picnics on the back deck that always evolved hysterical laughter, our mutual love for Disaronno, music and dancing in our seats. Mammie always treated us like family and we will forever be grateful to have known her. ❤️
