Daniel G. Hagans
Daniel G. Hagans, 91, of Coatesville, PA, passed away at his home on Saturday, May 6, 2023. He was the husband of the late Lois Anne Nichols Hagans who passed away in January 2023. Born in Coatesville, he was the son of the late Burwood and Frances Pratt Hagans.
Daniel graduated from Scott Senior High School in Coatesville, PA in 1951. Shortly after graduation, he joined the Navy. After returning home, he married his sweetheart, Lois A. Nichols in 1957. He was employed by Downingtown Paper Box Company. He also had several side jobs. In 1967, Dan was called by the Lord to go into the ministry. He founded the Kings Way Independent Church. He went on to get his Doctorate in Theology and was ordained by his professors from Lancaster Bible College. Dan taught at the Grace Bible Institute in Coatesville. After retiring from the full-time ministry, he was an interim minister for Hephzibah Baptist Church in Coatesville, Friedens Bible Chapel in Birdsboro, PA, and was a guest minister at Wagontown Chapel several times. Dan loved giving seminars on his favorite topic from the Bible - Prophecy.
Dan enjoyed chopping wood, tinkering on anything electronic, and working on car engines. He was a true handyman. He loved star gazing with his telescope and talking about the vastness of the universe. He was also an avid animal lover. His sense of humor was contagious and loved to tease and tell jokes. But most of all - Dan loved the Lord and loved to preach whenever the opportunity presented itself.
Pastor Dan was also quite musical and played his array of "unconventional" musical instruments including the saw, the theremin, and the glasses. He was an exceptional drummer and played the harmonica flawlessly.
Dan's life is full of experiences that have enriched others to seek God's will for their lives.
His favorite verse is one that he lived his life by-
I Corinthians 15:58 KJV
"Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable always abounding in the work of the Lord, Forasmuch as ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord."
He is survived by his children, Linda C. (Dale) Adams of Coatesville, Susan Bradley of Coatesville, Deborah J. (Ralph) Andrews of Prospect Park, PA, and Daniel D. (Zena) Hagans of Newmanstown, PA, 11 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois A Nichols Hagans and siblings, Jean Surplus, Howard Hagans, Thomas Hagans, and Robert Hagans, grandsons, Stephen and Aaron Boyd, and great-granddaughter, Julia Adams.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, May 12, 2023, at Hephzibah Baptist Cemetery, Coatesville, at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Friends of Israel Ministry.
