Ethel M. "Dee" Mendenhall
Ethel M. "Dee" Mendenhall, 74, of Kinzer, PA, passed away in York, PA, on Saturday, December 31, 2022. She was the companion of David H. Ross. Born in Downingtown, PA, she was the daughter of the late Albert H. and Estella Fillman Walton, and the widow of the late Elwood H. Mendenhall.
Ethel spent most of her life in the Martin's Corner area and worked as a waitress in various restaurants, including King's Country Kitchen in Downingtown, The Famous Restaurant, Zorba's, and The Little Chef all of Coatesville, PA. She was a member of Calvary Monument Church in Kinzer.
Ethel was a lifetime member and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at Martins Corner Fire Company. She loved her great-nephew Jeffrey Walton Jr., a great-niece Monica Walton so much that she treated them like they were her grandchildren. She loved her three nephews Danny and Shawn Harrison and Jeffrey Walton Sr.
She loved playing Bingo. She attended group projects at the Factory Ministries of Paradise Pa. In the summertime, she liked going to Knoebels and having Yard sales.
Ethel liked going to Christmas Village in Elysburg Pa. and taking Jeffrey and Harley (David's Granddaughter) when they were younger and Monica when she was little. She loved decorating at Christmas time and cooking holiday meals and having her family over.
She loved hanging out with Heather and Harley playing Yahtzee and cards. Ethel liked riding snowmobiles. Ethel loved her dogs Baber, Banjo, Bubba, Buddy, Buttons, and Bambi who all passed away right before God called Ethel home. She also had a dog named Snowball when Ethel was in her younger years who also passed away ... they were all Mommy's Babies.
Ethel liked Country and Oldies music. Ethel liked going to yard sales and Flea Markets. Ethel was well-liked by all her Amish friends. Ethel made the best pickles, beets, applesauce, and peaches that were out of this world. She loved making them with Fannie Stoltzfus. During Ethel's final stage of life David and Heather took care of her and during her passing David, Heather, Jeffrey Sr, and Monica were with her. All of her wishes were fulfilled and now Ethel can Rest in Peace and dwell in the house of the Lord forever. She will be deeply missed by all of her Friends and Family.
