Clarence E. "Stretch" Bowman, Sr., 83, of Honey Brook Township, passed away on Thursday, October, 6, 2022 at the Chester County Hospital in West Chester, PA. He was the beloved husband of Shirley Ann Gilbert Bowman with whom he shared over 59 years of marriage. Born in West Chester, he was the son of the late Ella Mae Bowman Watson and stepfather Francis Watson.
Stretch was an area resident all his life. He proudly served in the US Army from 1957 to 1959 in Germany with the 7th Calvary. He was employed as a truck driver known to many as "Caveman" and later he owned and operated the Bowman & Son Auto Body Shop where he restored, modified and custom built many trophy winning street rods.
He is survived, in addition to his wife, by three children; Clarence Edward Bowman, Jr. of Parkesburg, Donald Bowman of Milroy, PA, and Ronald Bowman of New Holland, PA, nine grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by two children; Thomas Rodgers and Brenda Hayes.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Wilde Funeral Home of Parkesburg, PA.
