Martha Ann Schmidt, 80, of Kinzers, PA, passed away at Harrisburg UMPC Pinnacle Hospital on Friday, February 7, 2020. She was the beloved wife of the late Jacob Henry Schmidt with whom she shared over 50 years together.
Born in Caln Township she was the daughter of the late Charles McKinley Hughes and Viola Alice Harkin Hughes.
Martha was a 1957 graduate of Scott Senior High School in Coatesville. She worked all her life in health care serving at both the Coatesville and Brandywine Hospitals.
She enjoyed crocheting, adult coloring books, game shows, watching yachts at Myrtle Beach, and most importantly time spent with her family.
Martha is survived by five children; Lorrie Johnson of Kinzer, Beth Henson and husband Donald of Conway, South Carolina, Step-son Paul Henry Schmidt and wife Joan of Mountville, William Mattson Jr of Kinzers, and Charles Henry Schmidt and wife Becky of myrtle beach South Carolina; 12 grandchildren,13 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter Debra Lynn Miller who passed away in 1995. Additionally, she was preceded in death by her siblings Betty Marshman, Mary Cleary, Charles Hughes, Peggy Snyder, and Robert Hughes.
A memorial service will be held at 11 AM from the Wilde Funeral Home on Saturday, February 15, 2020. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation period taking place from 9:30 until the start of the service. Interment will directly follow the service at Fairview Cemetery in Coatesville.
