Gertrude M. Ford, 89, of Coatesville, passed away at her home on Tuesday, January 1, 2019 surrounded by her family. She was the widow of the late Harold Ford and later companion to the late Moutrie Toney. Born in Parkesburg, she was the daughter of the late Frederick D. London and Iva Gray London.
Gertrude was an area resident all her life and a 1947 graduate of the former James Adams High School in Coatesville. She was employed by the former Penguin Industries of Pomeroy, PA.
She is survived by five children; Betty Webb of Coatesville, Carl "Buckum" London and wife Judy of Coatesville, Harold Ford of Coatesville, Ronald Ford of Philadelphia and Patricia Ford of Coatesville, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, ten siblings; Harry London, Michael London and wife Gloria, Lester London and wife Carol, Andrew London, Barry London, Larry London and wife Anita, Margie Brake, Tillie Lavender, Dorothy London and Joyce Scott and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by one daughter Mona Lisa Ford and nine siblings; Ronald London, Frederick London, Jr., Robert London, Edward London, Harold London, William London, Margaret Valentine, Ida London and just recently by her brother James Franklin London.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of Passtown, 117 Barber Ave., Coatesville, PA 19320 followed by interment at the Mt. Zion AME Cemetery in Atglen, PA. Family and friends are also invited to attend the viewing at the church from 9:00 AM to the time of the service.
