Ethel M. Smith, 80, of West Bradford Township, passed away on April 2, 2018 at Neighborhood Hospice of West Chester. She was the beloved wife of Dale Raymond Smith with whom she shared 53 years of marriage. Born in Coatesville, she was the daughter of the late Robert John Ross and Sarah Way Ross.
Ethel was an area resident all her life and worked as a registered nurse in several private practices and at Saint John Vianney in Downingtown. She was a graduate of the former Scott High School Class of 1955 and the Lancaster General Hospital School of Nursing. She was a member of the Coatesville Bible Fellowship, the Prime Timers of Downingtown and the Lukens Band Wives.
Ethel was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many. She loved spending time with her family, helping others, being a nurse, reading good mystery novels and always loved to laugh.
She is survived, in addition to her husband, by two sons, Ross E. (Beverly) of Harrisburg, Stephan D. (Jessica) of Coatesville, two grandchildren, Brea Mumma (Todd) and Gavin L. Smith and siblings, John Ross (June) of Coatesville, Herman Ross (Amanda) of Downingtown and Walter Ross (Joanne) of Parkesburg. She was preceded in death by siblings, Samuel and Sarah Ross.
Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Friday, April 6, 2018, at 11:00am from the Coatesville Bible Fellowship, 6 N. 4th Ave., Coatesville, PA with Pastor Eric McAdams officiating. Interment to follow at the Hephzibah Baptist Cemetery, East Fallowfield, PA. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 10:00 am until time of service.

Mrs. Smith was a neighborhood mom to all of us. She was always there to listen to us, give encouragement and support. Even as an adult.
She will be missed. What I will miss most about her is her honesty, her big heart, and her infectious laugh (with a little snort).
