Edward E. McNamara

PrintPrint

On May 21, 2011, Edward McNamara joined his friend, Jesus our Lord, at the age of 73.  Born and raised in Duquesne, PA, he was the son of Edward and Margaret McNamara.  Loving father to his children: Shelly Wurtz, wife of David Wurtz of Marmora, NJ; Shannon McNamara, husband of Lisa McNamara of West Grove, PA; and Heather McNamara of Berlin, NJ.  Edward was predeceased by his son, Michael McNamara. He is also survived by his 4 grandchildren, Connor & John McNamara and David & Jack Wurtz, his sister Donna Fendrick of Fort Walton Beach, FL and predeceased sister, Margaret Mary McCarty.  Edward greatly loved his children, his grandchildren, and the love of his life, his bride of 50 years Nancy McNamara.

A History and Political Science major, Edward graduated from Edinboro University of PA in 1960, married his college sweetheart, Nancy, and moved to Barrington, New Jersey where he taught history at Over Brook Regional High School for 35 years.  After retiring, Edward focused on enjoying time with his children and grandchildren, while having fun with his hobbies of bowling, golfing, gourmet cooking, and perusing the aisle of Dutchway and Weiss Markets.  Edward lived life to the fullest with his hardy laugh and humble nature.  His presence will be missed by many.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Edward’s life at Our Lady of Consolation Church, 603 West 2nd Ave., Parkesburg, PA 19365 on Thursday, May 26, 2011 at 11:00 am with a Celebration of the Liturgy Mass. Visitation at the church from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Our Lady of Consolation Church at the above address.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Wilde Funeral Home of Parkesburg.  Online condolences can be posted at www.wildefuneralhome.com

Condolences

TO OUR FRIEND, ED:

Sleep on, beloved: sleep and take thy rest,
Lay down thy head upon the Saviour's breast;
We love thee well, but Jesus loves thee best – Good Night

Calm is thy slumber as an infant's sleep,
But thou shalt wake no more to toil and weep,
Thine is a perfect rest, secure and deep – Good Night

Until the shadow from the earth is cast,
Until He gathers in His sheaves at last,
Until the twilight gloom is overpast – Good Night

Until the Easter glory lights the skies,
Until the dead in Jesus shall arise
And He shall come, but not in lowly guise – Good Night

Until made beautiful by love divine,
Thou in the likeness of thy Lord shalt shine,
And He shall bring that golden crown of thine – Good Night

Only ‘good night’ beloved, not farewell!
A little while, and all His saints shall dwell
In hallowed union, indivisible – Good Night

Until we meet again before His throne,
Clad in the spotless robes He gives His Own,
Until we know, even as we are known – Good Night

Dear Michael, Shelly, Shannon, and Heather:
There's absolutely no doubt that your dad positively affected hundreds of lives through family, church, work and play. Everyone loved "Mac" especially me. What a great guy! I'm not a fan of history, but I know I would have gotten an "A" in his class! He taught the best lesson: Live and Love no matter what. How simple! I love you guys! Dad's spirit lives on within us forever and ever.

Dear family of Ed McNamara,
We were sorry to read of Ed's passing. We bowled with Ed at Garden Spot. His big smile; hearty laugh; teasing nature made it such fun to be with him. I saw Ed recently at Rocky Springs lanes; seeing his obituary was a shock. He will be missed by many. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Dear McNamara Family,

Although I am a '68 grad of Overbrook Regional High School (Lindenwold), I was never a pupil of Mr. McNamara's.

I write to you as the site administrator for the OverbrookRegional68.com web site.

I know Mr. McNamara will be missed by so many of those he was able to enlighten while teaching them history.

He has been listed on the "In Memory" page of our site for all to see and remember.

We offer you fond condolences and pray for the Lord to keep you, guide you and comfort you during this very sad time in your lives.

Nancy,...So saddened for your loss of your Love. I am asking the Almighty Father to bless you with strength and peace as you continue on with you journey. Nancy, I was so blessed to have met and talked with you two...
Thank you Nancy for teaching me how to meditate and get to know Spirit. I will always remember that one RICA class where you taught this, and when you came to my Sunday School class to teach the children the song "His Banner Over Me is Love." Nancy, keep strong and know that you are very special.

Peace to you, Karen & Gregg McCandless
