Man I never knew
Uncle Don,
In this last week I have learned more about you than I ever knew. The fellow residents have had nothing but praise for you and have stated what a great man you where. I always knew you were with us but know I realize that was the way you lived your life. I have heard about you from political views, love of photography, puzzles and all around great guy wanting to make a difference in others lives. If more people were just a little more like you the world will be a better place. I have learned more about you the last 5 days at Freedom village than I have my entire 50 years and this last week has had a great affect on me. You are now at peace with you brother and parents. You will be missed greatly but never forgotten and thank you for all the good times that I took for granted and did not say thank you.
Your loving nephew,
Keith
Uncle Don, I cannot thank
Uncle Don, I cannot thank you enough for everything you have done for me as a little girl with wrinkly hair until presently . You have always been there for me and my family. So many awesome memories of the New Hampshire trips together. Never forget that swivel chair in your van and falling out of it No seat belts!! Crazy times... The minature golf game. I won because I got the most points..I have so many memories that I will always carry in my heart forever. I will treasure our hour long conversations on the phone.. We talked about everything... I wiss miss those conversations and you terribly. I hope you know how much you mean to me and that I love you dearly. I know you are at peace now.. No one will ever take your place. I was blessed to have you in my life . Rest in peace Uncle Don.. Pam
REMEMBERING THE LATE DONALD K. LOVERIN
DON LOVERIN was my friend and classmate when I was UNH from which I graduated in 1958 and he was a member of the UNH OUTING CLUB and he and I took up ROCKCLIMBING and rapelled off BALDHEAD CLIFFS in MAINE as one of the activities of the many things we did. He and I and his late brother, David and one of their cousins all climbed MR. KEARSARGE in the WARNER AREA and also spent some time water skiing, and around Lake Sunapee and i stayed a few days at his home in Sunapee not far from the Harbor on a side street. Both parents were friendly and talented musically and we sang some songs and had a great time. After graduation entered the US Army and he and I lost touch, altough I understood he taught school in Vermont and had,I think, majored in Biology and education and I thought he had graduated from UNH in 1958 with our class but will ahve to look at the yearbook whe I have a chance. I learned from this obituary and the account in the local paper he that he taught archery and Tai Chi, both activities that have interested me on and off over the years so I regret that we never met after college to discuss these and other things.I was pleased to learn of his professorship and his accomplishments. Please accepty my deepest condolences to his family and everyone who knew him.
UNH NOTIFICATION OF DON'S OBITUARY
I went ot one of the UNH PAGES that I follow and notified them of his passing and they replied they would let the alumni groups and so on know of thi and publish something on his passing but just how much, I do not know, inteh next magazine. Some of the things we did as students would be better said perhaps in person rather than published on record not that there is anything other than personal memories of mine and those years at UNH it may be that others in that time frame will recall him hopefully. I can't recall if he took ROTC or not. I did in AIRFORCE ROTC, but my eyesight kept me from being an officer in the air force and I did not take up the ARMY ROTC but was drafted in 1959.
More information on DONALD KEITH LOVERIN
Don and I both belonged to the DURHAM REELERS at UNH for allf our years. We both graduated in 1958 as my yearbook inidicates. The DURHAM REELERS were a well-known group that did folk, square, and ethnic dances as well as other times, such as, reels, national, and similar dances. It also danced for special occasions and traveled to other places to participate in folk festivals as well as for visiting celebrities if called upon. Ths small image is from the 1958 Class Yearbook of THE UNIVERSITY OF NH in Durham, NH. Don majored in Biology there.
Here is his yearbook description of things done there briefly
This gives a brief description of his four years there but I can assure everyone he did a lot more things than listed there. He was modest, intelligent, active, friendly and kept his specific goals in mind. He had many friends as well. He will be missed but, of course, many of his fellow classmates have passed away so they cannot remember or describe him to anyone now.
