Norman W. Miller, Jr., 94, of Parkesburg, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at the Pocopson Home. Born in Atglen, he was the son of the late Norman W. Miller, Sr. and Elsie J. Boots Miller.
Norman was a lifelong resident of Parkesburg. He received his education at the old Lenover School. After serving in the US Army during WWII, he was employed by the Lukens Steel Co. in Coatesville retiring after 30+ years of service as a Dinkey train engineer.
He was a member of the Mt. Zion AME Church of Atglen, the Red Rose Driving Horse Club for 15 years and the Cochran Fox Hunting Club for 35 years. He enjoyed horseback riding, fox hunting and carriage rides.
He is survived by three children; Roger Miller and wife Phyllis of Parkesburg, Beverly Powell of Parkesburg and Brenda Miller LeVay of Eagleville, seven grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, seven great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Norma A. Colen; two brothers; Robert E. and Ralph S. Miller, two grandsons and three great grandsons.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 29, 2014 at 11am from the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St. Parkesburg with a viewing from 9 to 11am.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to Mt. Zion AME Church, 404 Zion Hill Rd, Atglen, PA 19310.
