Elizabeth Irene Whiteman Cumens, 82, of Downingtown, passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at the Hospice LifeCare Center in West Chester. She was the widow of the late Harold Wesley Cumens who died in 2006. Born in Coatesville, she was the daughter of the late George and Elizabeth Tait Whiteman. 

Betty was an area resident all her life. For several years, she owned and operated a seamstress business. She was a member of the Bacton Hill Bible Church of Malvern.
She is survived by three children; Harold W. Cumens and wife Susan, Garry R. Cumens and wife Tina and Darlene C. Wolf all of Downingtown, seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and three siblings; Clara Swift of Honey Brook, Barbara Kuhn of Coatesville and Wesley Whiteman of Elverson.
 
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at 11am from the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St. Parkesburg with a viewing from 10 to 11am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent in her memory to the Downingtown National Bank, 104 Culbertson Run Rd  Downingtown, PA 19335 to establish an account for local charities in her honor.

We are so sorry to lose Aunt Betty, a truly good lady who loved her family and was dearly loved in return. Her down to earth humor and wisdom, good cooking, her joy in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her kindness will be missed so much. She gave a lot of happiness.

I can quite get my words together yet mom mom but I miss you so much already!!! Im trying so so hard to be strong but its getting harder and harder each day! Please give Poppy a hug and kiss for me and tell him THANK YOU for coming to see me often! Love ya both ALWAYS and FOREVER! <3

Thank you so much for showing me that your with me today!! I sat with you in the hospice room and asked you to come to me in a special way like Poppy does and today you did just that!! I was feeling down this morning until it finally clicked that what I was seeing all around me was your sign!! I love you and miss you so much mom-mom!!
