Sidney L. Hammond

Sidney L. Hammond, 81, of Gap, formerly of Parkesburg, passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born in Atglen, PA, and was the son of the late Herbert and Florence White Hammond. He was the husband of the late Carol A. Hammond.

An area resident most his life he graduated from Scott High School, Coatesville, in 1949 and was retired from the Lukens Steel Company where he work in the electric furnace.

He is survived by daughters, Judy Johnson of Gap, Sandra Purnell of Atglen, Sydney Proctor of Coatesville, sons, Rodney Hammond of Paradise, Sidney Hammond Jr. of Parkesburg, 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Byron K. Hammond.

Funeral services will be held privately and at the convenience of the Hammond family.
