SKIP LIVED AT THE TOP OF STEEL AVE WHICH GAVE HIM A LOT OF MOMENTUM AS HE SPEEDED DOWN THE HILL TO KEEP FROM BEING LATE TO SCHOOL. IT ALWAYS AMAZED ME HOW HE COULD GET THERE BEFORE THE BELL RANG. HE WAS A NICE BOY WHO WAS KIND AND HELPFUL AND STOOD UP FOR THE SMALLER KIDS WHO WERE BEING PICKED ON. MAY FOND MEMORIES OF HIM BE A COMFORT TO HIS FAMILY DURING THEIR TIME OF GRIEF. FROM JUDI HERMAN WHO LIVED AT THE BOTTOM OF STEEL AVE.

We are very sorry for your loss. I can remember Skip from years ago when I worked at Don Ramaley’s Atlantic service station on Valley Rd. Skip and his dad always had the neatest cars. Often Skip and his dad “Reuben “would stop for gas and they were the neatest people to talk too. Oh, and one more thing, I will never forget the (I think) 1955 Pontiac Skip had with the electric bulb for a dome light, it had a pull chain like the one we had in our bathroom.

The holidays and our get togethers won’t be the same without you. We loved spending time with you and listening to the stories you would tell us. You had a special spot in your heart for our bulldog Cammi. I know how much Dawn is missing you and spending the days with you and taking care of you. Going to the DD for breakfast and hanging out with Jerry and the girls from the diner. I know in my heart you wouldn’t be happy with the things that are going on now. In our world we never had “Step” relatives it was always just family and the relationship with Dawn was father and daughter.Rest easy Pop’s this nonsense will be over soon.

We had the privilege of knowing Pops through his daughter, Dawn Tillman. What a neat man you were and we so enjoyed all of the talks about cars and racing and fun in the good ole days. I know we have to wait for the great reunion in heaven to continue our discussions, but until then, we will be surrounding Dawn with the comfort and love of the Father, praying that she is constantly reminded of how much the LORD loves her, how much Pops loved her dearly, and we do too.

“Any person can be happy, it takes a human with a real heart to make beauty out of the stuff that makes us weep.”
Thank you Dawn for introducing me and my parents to your dear, dear father. Dinners, talking about cars, playing with dogs (especially bulldogs!), and his unique, monotone way of talking will be with me always. He was a contemporary of my own father, and watching the “old guys” talk was very special. My heart hurts for your loss, but this life is just a mortal shell, his spirit will be with us always, and when we cross the path that he has already taken, we will all rejoice once again, in each others company, forever with The Father. Love you Dawn!

Can't even begin to tell you how special your dad and.my Pop's friendship was. I always teased them because they acted like an old married couple 🤣

No one could ever understand the bond between my Pops and your dad. They were like am old married couple, arguing and challenging one another over the past. God love Jerry. I'm going to get with him ad soon as I can drive again after my stroke. Miss you

It has taken me a while to think just what I remembered doing with you that I will never forget. One is the rides on Route 82 on the cycle to see how close my hair would come to the road on the curves such a rush. The other is you taking care of Rebecca when she was only a few weeks old so I could run the family pet to an emergency vet visit. You just sang to her. You will always in my heart.
