Sgt. David G. Bicking ("Bick")
Sgt. David G. Bicking ("Bick") of Gap passed away on Friday, December 31, 2021. He was the husband of the late, Nguyen Thi Kien "Kim" Bicking who passed in 2019. They shared 55 years of marriage and he is now reunited with the love of his life in Heaven.
Born in Coatesville, David was the son of the late Miriam H. Bicking and Walter J. Bicking. Upon graduation from Octorara High School, David served honorably for the US Army. He was proud of his service in the US Army and of his beautiful wife he brought to the states from Vietnam.
He retired from Lukens Steel over 25 years ago as a Production Control Coordinator for the Rolling Mill, but had the knowledge and skills to perform various jobs throughout the mill. He was a very active member, serving and overseeing various committees, at Friendship United Methodist Church in Coatesville.
David was an amazing husband, father, brother, uncle, son, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially dining out at local restaurants like Brass Eagle and Loxley’s. He also loved to spoil his two dogs, Molly & Mimi; both passed away within the last six months.
He loved watching and playing sports, especially basketball and baseball. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing with his brother and nephews. He was a jokester and loved to tease, tell jokes, pull pranks and make people laugh. His love of life was infectious, as he showed others how to enjoy life to the fullest through his laughter and many stories.
He is survived by his three children; Tom Bicking and wife Uyen Pham Bicking of Lancaster, PA, Debby Bicking of Kinzers, PA and Rose Bicking-Egge and husband Michael of Lancaster, PA, eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Along with some other family members, he is also survived by his sister, Audrey, wife of Jerry Brown of Gap.
His family wants to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers during this sad and difficult time. In honoring his wishes, David will be laid to rest next to his wife during a Private Burial with Military Honors. They have decided not to have a Memorial Service for him at this time, but will consider holding a Celebration of Life sometime in the future.
A personal message written by David was found among his scripture and hymn selections for the service which says...
"I thank you all & may God Bless Always and keep you all in his loving care! Sincerely, Dave"
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in David’s memory to Friendship United Methodist Church, 123 East Friendship Church Rd., Coatesville, PA 19320.
Arrangements by the Wilde Funeral Home, Parkesburg, PA. Online condolences can be posted at www.wildefuneralhome.com

Sgt. David G. Bicking
Sergeant David J. Bicking is the epitome of strength, courage and dedication. He is not only a great warrior, but also an inspiring leader, exactly what I would like to be. I myself once served in the army, and I know what it means to be part of this elite team. Our equipment was the best in the world, and this is not an exaggeration. To learn more about this amazing equipment, I read the article https://www.agmglobalvision.com/us-soldier-equipment-part-2. It confirmed my own memories and strengthened my respect for the army and its soldiers, of whom I was one.
Miss you

I Miss You Papa
Mr. Bicking was my Ex-Father-in-law, and I am very grateful, I was thankful to have him in my life and all of my children's lives. He is a great Father, a very good listener, very supportive, loving, and caring. I am proud to have called him my father.
Papa, I didn't expect any of this, but I am sure everything is in God's plan. And I know, we will see you again.! I love you.
Dear Rose & Michael, so
Dear Rose & Michael, so sorry to hear of your loss. My thoughts & prayers are with you and your family. Rest in peace Dave.
Be at Peace
Sometimes (lots of times), you could hear Dave before you could see him. That signature rowdy laugh would rumble around corners and someone was probably blushing on the other side of it, usually Kim shaking her head and waving him off with her hand in that way she would when do when he was teasing her. But for every ounce of his boisterous playfulness, Dave was a hardworking, generous, reliable and devoted husband, father and friend. Speaking for my family, Dave, Kim, Debbie and Rosie were fixtures of our childhood and we have been so fortunate to have the Bicking’s in our lives. Kim was like a sister to my mother, and tears would come to my mom’s eyes when she would talk about the way Dave lovingly cared for Kim over the years of her illness. May God bless Dave for a job well done on this earth by reuniting him with his beautiful bride in Heaven. And may the Bicking family be comforted with peace during this difficult time.
with love and friendship,
The Devereux Family
Always in our hearts
Dear Rose, Michael and Deb:
We have been thinking of you all so much and sending you love and prayers during this difficult time.
I have so many fun, loving memories of your Dad…taking us to the mountains, goofing around, making your Mom sigh (and giggle ;), helping my parents with their garden, going out to lunch and dinner together, the list goes on and on.
We love you and hope you find some peace knowing that he is reunited with your Mom and resting in the hands of the Lord.
Always,
Jon and Meg
I learned to know Dave and
I learned to know Dave and Kim as being their Realtor and also very dear friends. Dave was always entertaining and they were both so generous. Kim made the best egg rolls, many Christmases she would make me egg rolls ( I think Dave also had some input into them too) they were the best! I miss them both.
