Stanley John Baginski
‘In the time of your life, LIVE. Seek goodness everywhere.
Do not add to the misery of it.’
Because Stan loved a good story, it’s only fitting that his remembrance told as one...
On Christmas Day in 1964, Stan Baginski came into this world…the son of Stanley J. Baginski and Grace Genevieve Henesey in Upper Darby, PA. Blissfully unaware of all that would come his way, good or bad, and all the people he would meet along the way, he had no idea how many lives he would touch, and affect, in many ways.
His professional resume would be read as an ersatz road map of stops and starts…from a diner dishwasher…a phlebotomist…employment later at Bancroft Homes and Trevor’s Place…even the World Game Institute and a website administrator.
Getting out and about, especially immersed in nature, brought Stan a lot of joy. He was able to enjoy the beauty of nature and allow it to wash over him, whether it was overseas to experience Europe, star gazing in the pitch black nights of Maine where you could see millions of stars and not much else, across the border to Canada, or to the Conowingo Dam to watch the eagles fly or stroll among the many flowered paths of Longwood Gardens, and admire all the flowers and landscaping. Even at home, he would often linger outside after a smoke to admire a new moon or a sunset or the changing of seasons. He also loved animals and seemed to have a knack for befriending even the most obstinate of animals.
Musically, his tastes were both eclectic and diverse. Barbara Streisand was his queen, and Bette Midler, his favorite bawdy girl. He saw both of these ladies several times live, among so many other artists, enjoying the experience of live music as much, if not more than when he’d hear the music on the stereo. He would often make a yearly ‘Best of’ CD compilation, showcasing songs that particularly touched his life that year, and would be given out as Christmas presents.
Stan embarked on a new journey on November 29, 2021, leaving behind his companion, Rich, several loving friends, cousins and other family members. Though he is not with us any more, remember him when you hear a song, or see a new moon, or stop and smell a flower.
All that knew and loved Stan can honor his memory by living his favorite quote: ‘In the time of your life, LIVE. Seek goodness everywhere. Do not add to the misery of it.’ When out and about, do as Stan often did his best to do…leave the place better than you found it, add to the beauty for others yet to come.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, we instead ask for donations to be made in his name to Longwood Gardens or to your favorite animal shelter. A Celebration of Life will be held in Spring 2022.
