Russell E. Armentrout

Russell E. Armentrout, 92, of Lancaster, passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2009 under the care of the Hospice of Lancaster County at the Essa Flory Hospice Center in Lancaster.  He was the widower of his late wife, Catherine Giannotta Armentrout. 

Born in Penlaird, Virginia, he was the son of the late Jacob and Minnie Getz Armentrout.  An area resident of Coatesville, Pomeroy and the Gap area since he was four years old, Russell was employed at the former Lukens Steel Co., retiring in 1979.  He was a member of the Lukens Veteran's Guild.

He is survived by his son, Kenneth S. Armentrout, husband of Shirley, of Lancaster; daughter-in-law, Betty Armentrout of Gap, five grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; and one sibling, Marvin Armentrout of New Holland.  He was preceded in death by a son, Edward R. Armentrout and six siblings, Allen, Wilson, Elmer, Irwin, Mae and Dora.

Russell's Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2009 at 11 AM at the Our Lady Consolation Catholic Church, 603 W. Second Ave. Parkesburg .  Visitation will be held at the Church from 10 AM until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice of Lancaster County, PO Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.

Our deepest Sympathy to all the family. I will always remember Uncle Russ and his great sense of humor and kind smile. Though I have lived out of state for many years I have strong memories of Uncle Russ. Our thoughts and prayers are with all the family.
