Pauline J. Nicholson, 78, of Woodstock, VA at the request of her Lord and Savior has relocated to heaven on Thursday, June 15, 2017.
She was born in Coatesville, PA on July 17, 1938, a daughter of the late Ann and Paul Nemila.
She lived the early part of her life in the Coatesville area and in Atglen, PA. She moved to Toms Brook, VA in 1975 where she lived until her husband retired, and in 1999 they moved Albemarle, NC where she resided for almost 18 years. Then in March of 2017, she moved to Woodstock, VA to be closer to her family.
Throughout her life, her first and foremost love was for her family. She was the heart and center of the welcoming and nurturing home she was determined to create for her children and their friends. She was a mother of eight (seven daughters and one son) and also a foster mother to many others. She devoted her life to her family and church. She was an active and long term member of Atglen Baptist Church in PA and Liberty Baptist Church in Strasburg, VA. She had a strong relationship with her Lord and Savior and guided her children and grandchildren in the Christian faith. She enjoyed reading, cooking, flower gardening, and traveling.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harrison E. Nicholson Sr., her daughter, Susanna Nicholson, and a great granddaughter, Lylah Stickles. Survivors include her daughters; Maryann Bowman and her husband Dale of Houston, Texas, Nancy Grim of Mt. Jackson, VA, Vanessa Menn and her husband Mike of Mobile, Al, Wanda Preston of Edinburg, VA, Pauline (Dolly) Stickles and her husband Mike of Fredericksburg, VA, Virginia (Ginny) Palmer of Franklin, NC. and her only son, Harrison Nicholson Jr. of Woodstock, VA. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 9 great-grand children and 1 great-great grandchild. She is also survived by her sisters, Julia Van Dyke of Pomeroy, Pa, Mary Allison, of Coatesville, PA and Nancy Fuchs of Coatesville, PA.
A memorial service will take place on Friday, June 23, at 2:00 pm. at the Jennersville Church of the Brethren, 653 West Baltimore Pike, West Grove, PA.19390. A funeral service will take place immediately afterwards at the Fairview Cemetery in Coatesville, PA. The service will be conducted by her grandson, Pastor Cory Stickles of Madison, MS.
A beautiful woman who gave so much to others and expected so little in return. She will be immensely missed by all who knew and loved her.

My deepest condolences to the Nicholson family and their heartbreaking lost of their dearest mother. Pauline was truly one of the Most exceptional persons, full of sincerity and honesty. You cannot get any better than this. We definitely need more Angels like Her, especially at these times. Once again, my deepest sorrow for the family's lost.

To my beautiful friends in the Nicholson clan – specifically – Maryann, Dolly and Nancy – my deepest and sincerest condolence. The death of a mom is something that we probably all have to go through…but it involves losing a piece of our heart. Our mom is a huge part of our past, our history, our present, our best memories and who we are today. I never met her but have heard so much about her that I feel like I know her. She was the center of this family – and the magnet everyone gravitated to. She was blessed to be surrounded by a beautiful, loving and caring family. May she rest in peace in the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and may her family find consolation in knowing that she is in His arms. Love you my friends.

Although I don't know the family I feel I do as I've looked at Susanna's grave Stone since my grandfather was buried in 76. I've always thought how hard it must be to have lost a child so young as I was born the same year. On the 1st of this month we buried my father he's on the other side of Susanna. Reading the obituary I am comforted to know that Pauline had a good life despite an early loss, my prayers are with the family.

Thank you for your touching note. We saw your father's grave when we were there this past Friday for our mother's service and were saddened to know someone else had also just lost a loved one. Yes, it was indeed a very difficult time in our parents lives when they lost Susanna. It's one of those things that you never get over but somehow learn to live with. My mom & dad always said that knowing they would see her again in Heaven was the only thing that helped them survive the pain and loss. Our family was blessed to have had such wonderful parents in our lives and now they are once again enjoying their little girl. We will think of you and your family every time we visit our mom, dad, and sister.
