Virginia E. (Glass) Roth, 92, of Lutheran Knolls, passed away peacefully on November 13 after a short illness.
Virginia (Ginny) enjoyed a long, spry, cheerful life filled with friends and family. She worked as a cashier well into her 80’s at Smith’s Pharmacy in Claymont and enjoyed daily chats with all her customers, especially those from Sun Oil Co. where her husband worked until the 1970’s.
She lived in Lutheran Knolls in Boothwyn for the past 20 years, enjoyed crafts with friends, and loved to “rock with the ladies on the back porch”. She actively participated in ceramics and as part of the “kitchen crew”.
Ginny was the matriarch of the family and participated fully in the lives of her 2 children, Robert Glass of Seminole, FL and Phyllis Sperratore of Pot Nets, DE, 6 grandchildren (Robbie, Michael, Barbara, Brian, Katie, and Kevin) and 8 great-children (Alex, Ryan, Noah, Adrienne, Jake, Madison, Nicholas, and Tyler). Virginia was married to George Albert Glass (Al) and lived in Ridley, raising her family until his death in 1973.
Later in life she married Christian Roth of Essington, who died in 1988, and moved to Claymont.
She was predeceased by her brothers: Phillip, Edward and Joseph Downey all of Delaware County.
A service in memory will be held at Nottingham Missionary Baptist Church, 303 West Christine Road, Nottingham PA on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. with burial following at Lawn Croft Cemetery. Marcus Hook. Viewing at the Church from 10 until 11 AM.
Arrangements are being handled by Wilde Funeral Home in Parkesburg, PA.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation c/o Lutheran Knolls (610-497-5220) to dedicate a new rocking chair in Virginia’s honor.
Condolences

Aunt Ginny
Dear Phyllis & Bob, So sorry to hear of your Mom's death. We just found out today (11-20-12), we would have certainly paid our respects had we known. She had called us in September and said she was coming to visit us! I know its hard to understand why our loved ones are taken away from us, but take comfort in knowing you were a special part of a well-lived life. She loved you and your families very much.
With deepest sympathy, Jo Ann & Ron Ayres

Dear Phyllis and Family, I am
Dear Phyllis and Family,
I am saddened to hear of the loss of your mother Ginny, but happy to hear of her long wonderful life!! I remember her so fondly when she came into our lives after marrying Christian (my grandfather). She actually got my my first job at the pharmacy. She had a terrific sense of humor and loved to relay stories of her grandchildren (I often felt like I knew them personally). I am sure Ginny will be missed by all of her friends at Lutheran Knolls.
With very fond memories,
Donna (Miner) Zarycranski
Remembering Ginny
I too remember Ginny's wonderful sense of humor, she was funny, and always greeted others with a big smile. I will always treasure her generous compliments when she spoke of my husband and children! Ginny, I have been reminded of a life lesson through your passing. Don't take several months to reply to a note from a special person. I am hoping Ginny received my letter this past fall. Phyllis, Bob and family, we are sorry for your loss, and wish you fond memories of your mom.

It is really a heart breaking incident for me, when I heard that this beautiful lady with good heart has left this world and went to serve god. When I first joined in paper help company as trainee she is the one who taught me the tips and tricks in writing down good and sensible essays.
