Shirley A. Smith, 85, of Thorndale, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 13, 2012. She was the widow of the late William Smith, who passed away in 1992.  


 

Born in Coatesville, Shirley was the daughter of the late Charles and Ann (Jones) Benckert.  A graduate of Scott High School, she was then employed at the Acme of Thorndale for over 40 years.  

 

She is survived by her daughter, Beverly A. Donohue, wife of Michael, of Christiana, PA.  She was predeceased by her son, Timothy (Chico) Smith, who passed away in 1986 and her brother, Robert Benckert.  

 

The Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 8th, 2012 at 11 AM at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main Street, Parkesburg, with visitation from 10 until 11 AM.

 

In lieu of flowers, please donate in Shirley's memory to the National Kidney Foundation, Finance Department, 30 East 33rd St., New York, NY 10016.

Dear Bev and Dugie,

May you rest in the comfort of others prayers and condolences on the loss of Shirley. She was one of a kind! I'll remember her humor and outlook on the world. She could alway give us some guideance for sure.

We can only smile that her reward in heaven is reunited with Pappy Smith and Chico.... take comfort and accept what the the Holy Spirit provides to guide you both in the days ahead. Our love.
