At 85 years young, George Crusade made his transition on Friday, July 27th at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Phila., PA after being blessed with a long and fulfilling life. George was happily married for 44 years to his beloved wife, Constantina, and was a supportive and loving father to his daughters Catherine and Desiree.
The highlight of George's career involved fulfilling his dream of becoming a restaurateur. As owner and chef of the former "It's Greek To Me" restaurant previously located in the heart of Doylestown PA, George's culinary delights were enjoyed by many and received favorable reviews by Bon Appetit Magazine and The New York Times.
George's love of music encompassed playing classical and jazz guitar for over 50 years, providing guitar instruction and singing a variety of his favorite tunes. George's favorite endeavor was spending quality time with family and friends, especially his two grandsons, David and Athan, whom he cherished.
George endured a four month hospitalization prior to his death and, during his final months, as he faced many challenges, he did so with graciousness and dignity. George continued to demonstrate his gentle and tender demeanor, express a sincere attitude of gratitude, and uplift others through his humor. Most significant was George's will to live fueled by his appreciation for life, the love he shared with family and friends, and, above all, the most precious connection with his wife and soul mate. George's resilient spirit was truly an inspiration and a reminder of the strength and spirit that resides in each of us. George will be greatly missed and always in our hearts.
George is also survived by his son-in-law, Greg Garavello, his brother, Said Crusade, and his sister, Helen Delmargio. He was preceded in death by his parents, Said and Tamam Crusade, brother, Edward Crusade, sister, Sadie Schummel and his in-laws, George and Ethel Lalagos.
A private ceremony will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation or Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital.
