Michael F. Zevtchin, 80, of Parkesburg, passed away on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at his home surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Ethel Myers Zevtchin with whom he shared 57 years of marriage. Born in Coatesville, he was the son of the late Dimetro and Katherine Condor Zevtchin. An area resident most of his life and a 1948 graduate of the Parkesburg High School, Mike enlisted in the US Army in 1949 and proudly served in the 82nd Airborne Division and then went to Korea with the 7th Inf. Division. As a platoon Sergeant he was with those trapped in the Chosin Reservoir. At the time of his discharge in 1953 he was awarded the Combat Inf. Badge, 5 Battle Stars and the Purple Heart.
Mike retired from Lukens Steel with 42 years of service. He had also been employed as Chief of Police for Valley Township. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Consolation Church, member of the Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree, Post Commander and member of the the Parkesburg VFW Post #4480, the Parkesburg American Legion and the Pomeroy and West End Fire Companies.
He is survived, in addition to his wife, by two sons; J. Mark Zevtchin and David M. Zevtchin both of Sadsburyville, two nieces and two nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at 11:00 am from Our Lady of Consolation Church, 603 W. Second Ave., Parkesburg, PA 19365 followed by interment at the Parkesburg Catholic Cemetery. Relatives and friends are also invited to attend the viewing at the Church from 10:00 am to the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of Consolation Church at the above address.

We are sorry to hear of Mike's passing. We fondly remember him as a good neighbor, policeman, and co-worker from Lukens Steel Company. He was always friendly and willing to help others. We know he is now in a better place. May he rest in peace. We are unable to attend the services but will be keeping his family in our prayers.

My father always spoke highly of your husband and I enjoyed the time I spent with he and my father on the Luken's Guild trips I attended some years ago.He was a pleasure to be with.
