Martha E. Pennington, 82, of East Fallowfield, passed away at her home on Sunday, September 20, 2020. Born in Ercildoun, PA she was the daughter of the late Samuel O. Pennington and Henrietta L. Washington Pennington.
Martha was a lifelong resident of the Ercildoun area and a 1955 graduate of the former H. Scott High School in Coatesville. She continued her education graduating from Penn State with a degree in nursing. She was employed most of her life as a registered nurse and had worked at several local institutions including the former Embreeville State Hospital, the former Coatesville Hospital, Brandywine Hospital, and the Pocopson Home.
She is survived by six children; William Pennington, Steven Pennington Lisa Trammell and husband Louis, Nellie Pennington, Russell Pennington and Kevin Pennington all of Coatesville, 19 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, and three sisters; Sylvia Lawrence, Tina Flowers, Brenda Flowers and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one daughter-in-law Claudette Miles Pennington and four siblings; Leon Pennington, Frances "Tana" Myers, Lillian Pennington, and Donald Davis.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2020, at 12:00 noon at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St. Parkesburg, PA. Family and friends are also invited to attend the viewing from 11:00 AM to 12:00 noon.

The news of Martha'a passing was so sad. She was a kind, gentle and compassionate person. Knowing her as a nurse and a friend was a priviledge. We shared many happy times in nursing school. Her smile and contagious laugh are memorable. Her hands were a gift. As she cared for the sick and dying her gift was so evident. No her hands are in His hands, were she is safe and secure for eturnity. Martha... thank you for your presence in my life and they many you cared for.
