Elsie Mae Beam, 80, of Honey Brook, passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2009. She was the beloved wife of Robert C. Beam, with whom she shared 52 years of marriage.
Born in East Brandywine Twp., Elsie was the daughter of the late Leo Swisher Sr. and Hazel Nuse Swisher. An area resident her entire life, she was a 1947 graduate of the Coatesville High School. Elsie was a member of the Hibernia United Methodist Church.
Elsie will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived, in addition to her husband, by three children: Clarence "Skip" Bernard, husband of Ivy, Deborah Baldwin, wife of Clement, and Bruce R. Beam, husband of Julie; 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild; 6 siblings, Dorothy Miller, Margaret Curry, Leo Swisher, Jr. , Barbara Hunter, Elizabeth Risbon and Louise Martz.
The Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, November 19, 2009 at 7 p.m. at the Hibernia United Methodist Church, 220 Hibernia Rd., Coatesville, PA 19320. Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation from 6:30 until 7 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hibernia United Methodist Church at the above address.

Condolence for Elsie Mae Beam
You have been a big part of my life. My earliest childhood memories and any many of my fondest adult memories include you. We had so much fun... while traveling the country on our many quests, while catching crabs and digging for clams at the beach, while playing cards...seeking the illusive double pinnocle, and while working over the one armed bandits for a little ding - ding - ding!
We have spent alot of time together and have talked about so many things. Some topics silly, some topics serious but whatever the topic, there was always enjoyment in the exchange.
The content of the following poem reminds me of conversations we shared when facing our individual mortality.

I remember when my family would travel to Pennsylvania, and we would always have the big family reunion they were always so much fun. Elsie you and grandma had the same smile and laugh that everyone loved and I don't remember a day that I never saw you without it. Then there was your food and OH MY GOSH we can't leave that out because of course everyone knows you were an excellent cook. I remember when Val would bring you and Bob and Bill and Dottie to Oklahoma for a visit and you would bring us some hoagies and we would sit out on the lawn and eat and watch the deer and trade stories of remembering the good times we had we would laugh and laugh. That was so much fun. When I brought my husband, daughter and grandaughter out to show them around I will never forget the welcome you gave them it meant so much to me. I will miss talking with you on the phone,you will truly be missed. We love you. The families of The Bretts, Welsh, and Jennings are sorry to hear of her passing and our thoughts and prayers are with the family.
