Margaret E. Showalter
Our Dearly departed Margaret “Sister” Esther (Vandegriff) Showalter born on July 09, 1931; has gained her wings and took flight into heavens on August 29, 2018. Margaret was the daughter of the late Joseph Frederick Vandegriff and Emma (Rappold) Vandegriff .
Margaret “Sister” was born in Coatesville, Pennsylvania; although while she lived here in the Coatesville area most of her life; she spent a portion of the later years of her childhood in the Honeybrook area.
Margaret “Sister” was a member of The Presbyterian Church of Coatesville; where she was baptized and attended while growing up! Margaret “Sister” attended Carl Benner Elementary in Coatesville as a young child and completed her schooling through the 8th grade at Gordon Middle School in Coatesville ,PA; where there after she took on duties at home to help her father the late Joseph F. Vandegriff and step-mother the late Grace (Culbertson-Vandegriff) Hershey to care for their family after losing her mother the late Emma (Rappold) Vandegriff.
Margaret “Sister” also worked a short while at the Cheesecake Cake Factory in New Holland, PA. She then later returned to the Coatesville area after marrying. Margaret “Sister” has been and always was such a hard worker she later took employment at the Downingtown Laundromat where she worked side by side with her late daughter Teresa “Janie” (Showalter) Rosa.
Margaret “Sister” continued to reside in Coatesville in the Glen Rose Historic District with her late husband Ralph “Junior” Earl Showalter II until his death in 2005; she remained in the family home until tragically losing our home to a fire. Margaret “Sister” then lived a short while after with her Grandson Tomas, wife Faith (Cotton) Rosa and family in the Coatesville Area.
Margaret later then moved to Parkesburg, Pa with her daughter Margaret “Peggy” (Showalter), husband Alejandro “Chino” Guzman and family where she resided up until her recent move to Raleigh, NC; in August of 2017 to reside with her daughter Carmen Maldonado, fiancee Joseph “Joe” B. Keith.
Margaret is preceded in death by her late Husband Ralph Earl Showalter II with whom she shared 55 blessed years of marriage, she also is preceded in death by her step-mother Grace (Culbertson-Vandegriff) Hershey, Two of her Daughters: Hazel E. (Showalter) Maldonado and Teresa "Janie" (Showalter) Rosa, along with two of her Sisters: Caroline J. (Vandegriff) Collins, and Mary A. (Vandegriff) La Boy. She also is preceded by all three of her Brothers: Joseph F. Vandegriff II, Charles H. Vandegriff and Andrew L. Vandegriff; as well as her Grandson: Daniel Torres Jr.
Margaret is survived by her two Daughters: Margaret “Peggy” (Showalter) Guzman, wife of (Alejandro "Chino" Guzman) and Carmen Maldonado fiancee of (Joseph “Joe” B. Keith), her Son: Ralph Earl Showalter III her Sister: Myra (Vandegriff) Via and son-in-law Jorge Rosa husband of the late Teresa “Janie” (Showalter) Rosa.
Margaret also leaves behind a host of Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Great-great Grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Margaret was a beloved Daughter Widow, Mother, Sister, Aunt, Cousin, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Great-Great Grandmother and friend; she touched the hearts of so many. Kind and loving was she always; giving unconditional love to all she came in contact with. A pure heart she had; we will truly miss her dearly! May you forever rest in eternal peace in your everlasting life; we love you and will miss tremendously,! RIP Momma, Mom-mom, Grammy, Sister!
Funeral Services are to be held at Wilde Funeral Home 434 Main Street
Parkesburg, PA 19365 September 14th, 2018. Viewing times from 10:00a-11:00 am. Funeral Service at 11:00 am followed by Graveside Services at Glenwood Memorial Gardens 2321 West Chester Pike, Broomall, PA 19008

Rest in peace as I send my condolences to your family. We have never met but with the wisdom God bestowed upon you I was told by someone special to me that you know me and I am sure you are watching as I write this or will read it at your leisure.
