Nancy J. Smith

Born in Pennsylvania in 1928.  Nancy’s parents, Ernest and Mary Stewart Johnson, moved from Coatesville to Claymont, Delaware for Worth Steel where Nancy grew up, attended the Atonement Methodist Church and Claymont High School, and graduated as an RN from the Delaware Hospital School of Nursing in 1949. 

Nancy married John W. Morris also of Claymont (deceased), and they are survived and missed by daughter, Andrea Morris, of West Chester, son, Reid Morris, Reid’s sons Terence and Alexander, and Terry‘s daughter, Keira, all of Newark. Nancy married Thomas S. Smith (also deceased and much missed, survived by daughter Deborah Flayhart and husband William of Dover) and retired in 1978. 

While Tom continued as the pharmacist in his Claymont Store, they fully enjoyed living in Lindamere, attending Church of the Ascension, and summering in Lewes, surrounded by gardens, pets, and grandchildren including T.W. Flayhart, wife Amy, daughter Taylor, and son Spencer, of Towsend, Cathy F. Collins, husband, Captain Dwight, and son Topper of San Diego, Jennifer F. Keller, husband, Matt, and daughter Emma of Seattle, and Aimie Schneider, husband Tim, daughter Tegan and son Tristan, of Eldersburg, MD. Nancy spent her last years comfortably at the Barclay Friends Home in West Chester. 

Service to be at Church of the Ascension at 10:30 Saturday 8 September.
