Doris S. Elliott

Doris S. Elliott, 90, of East Fallowfield, passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at Neighborhood Hospice Center of West Chester.  She was the widow of the late H. Benjamin Elliott, who passed away in 1972 after they had shared 27 years of marriage.  

 

Born in West Grove, Doris was the daughter of the late Lillian (White) and Charles E. Staub.

 

She was a 1942 graduate of Downingtown High School.  Doris was employed as the Medical Administrative Officer of the day at VAMC in Coatesville.  

 

Doris was the 1980 recipient of the Chapel of Chaplains Award for outstanding service to the community.  She was a longtime member of the Election Board of East Fallowfield, and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, Historic Yellow Springs and the Brandywine Hospital.  

 

She was a member of the Hephzibah Baptist Church.  

 

In the last year of her life, Doris lived in Exton Senior Living.  Prior to that she lived at 2201 West Chester Road since 1951.  

 

She is survived by her son Edward W. Elliott, husband of Lynn Robinson Elliott of Chester Springs; granddaughters Erin Gehrig of Houston, TX and Susan Paterson, wife of Scott of Jersey, VA great grandchildren, Ben, Ann, Jane Gehrig, and Graham, Gavin and Vivian Paterson.  

 

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2014 at 2 PM at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St., Parkesburg, followed by interment in the Hephzibah Baptist Cemetery of East Fallowfield.  The viewing will be from 1 until 2 PM.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hephzibah Baptist Church, 2237 Strasburg Rd, Coatesville, PA 19320.
