Emily L. "Em" McClay

Emily L. "Em" McClay, 90, of Parkesburg, passed away on Sunday, May 5th, 2013 at her home.  She was the widow of the late Joseph McClay, with whom she shared 43 years of marriage.

 
Born in Chatham, Emily was the daughter of the late Anna and William Strode.  She was a parishioner of the Our Lady of Consolation Church of Parkesburg.  She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
 
She is survived by her beloved daughter, JoAnne Nolan, of Parkesburg; grandson, Dean Hoopes, husband of Barb, of Cochranville; and great grandsons, Dean Jr., husband of Janelle, of Virginia, and Nick and Anthony of Cochranville.  She was predeceased by five brothers and three sisters.
 
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 13th at 11 AM at the Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church, 603 W 2nd Ave., Parkesburg, PA 19365, followed by interment in the Parkesburg Catholic Cemetery.  Visitation will be held at the Church from 10 until 11 AM.
 
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made either to the Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church or to Hospice of Lancaster Co., P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604.

We are saying goodbye to the last of the warm and wonderful Strode family of Southern Chester County. Through the years we have all shared joy and laughter and we will have fond memories of the entire family as we say good bye to Aunt Em the youngest.
Our sincere condolances to Joanne, who was a treasure to her mother, to Dean, the son Aunt Em never had and to his family who brought her much happiness.

JoAnne, I am sorry to hear of your mothers death. I remember visiting with her at at several of the Kilmer's family get togethers...I also stopped by her home to visit her with my daughter several years ago.
She is resting peacefully and content, her lifes journey over, I hope memories of happy times together give you comfort and that God, in His Glory, brings you peace.
