Thomas R. Simms, Sr., 81, of Parkesburg, passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at Brandywine Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Thelma (Halterman) Simms with whom he shared 59 years of marriage.
Born in East Fallowfield Township, he was the son of the late Aleah (Mattson) and James Simms. An area resident his entire life, Thomas was a member of the Parkesburg United Methodist Church.
He was a 48 year member of the Brandywine-Goddard Lodge No. 383.
Tom worked for the former Lukens Steel in the Rolling Mill for 34 years, retiring in 1996.
He is survived, in addition to his wife, by five children: Linda M. Smith, wife of Earl, of Honey Brook, Cindy L. Zander, wife of Dennis, of Parkesburg, Thomas R. Simms, Jr., husband of Theresa, of Independence, VA, Barbara G. Minnich, wife of Danny, of Landisburg, PA and Allan R. Simms, husband of Mindi, of Parkesburg.; nine grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; and brother, Eugene Simms. He was predeceased by his son Roy E. Simms and five siblings.
The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 31 at 11 AM at Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St., Parkesburg, PA, followed by interment in Hephzibah Baptist Cemetery. The viewing will be held at the Funeral Home on both Friday evening from 6 - 8 PM and again on Saturday morning from 10 - 11 AM. Masonic services will be preformed by the Brandywine - Goddard F& AM Lodge #383 on Friday evening at 7:30pm at the funeral home.
