Shirley Ann Peters
Shirley Ann Peters, 86, of Kennett Square and formerly of Parkesburg, passed away on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at Linden Hall Friends Nursing Home in Kennett Square. She was the wife of the late William R. Peters who passed in 2013. Born in Strasburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Clyde K. and Mary Madonna Work.
Shirley was a graduate of McCaskey High School and worked as a secretary at the Coatesville VA and for the former Hagen's family dental office in Parkesburg. She ran a very active and busy household for her three children, her husband, and all of their activities including professional motorcycle races, Penn State athletics, and cultural events in Philadelphia.
She is survived by her daughters, Leslie, wife of Dr. Douglas Bleggi of Mechanicsburg, PA, and Holly Peters of Kennett Square, and her grandsons, Michael W. Bleggi of Salt Lake City, UT, and Thomas McChesney of Kennett Square. Shirley adored her family and was particularly proud of her grandsons. She enjoyed watching them grow and share their interests and adventures with her.
She was preceded in death by a son, William R. Peters Jr.
Shirley and her husband traveled to Europe and experienced the trip of a lifetime. Touring through Germany, Austria, and Italy fond memories were made, and she spoke of these adventures for years. Shirley’s fondness and empathy for the American Indians started after a cross-country trip as a young teenager with her father. Their love of the land, nature, and of each other greatly impacted her life. Throughout her life she educated herself, followed and supported several tribes of the Southwest United States.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 27th, 2021, at 3 PM from the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St., Parkesburg, PA with a visitation starting at 2 PM. A Catholic Prayer Service will be held at 1:45 PM. Interment will be held on Monday, November 29, at 11:00 AM at the Strasburg Mennonite Cemetery.
Also in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Shirley's memory to either The American Indian College Fund or Kennett Friends of Music.

Your Mom
Hi Leslie and Holly.
So sorry to hear about your Mom's passing. She was a great Lady. Your Mom and Dad invited me to their house one time when they were considering investing in Grip-It Corp. I advised them against that.
That was a great visit with them one on one. Extrodinary people that lead by example. What a privilidge it is to have known both of them and you guys. Hang on to the memories, and keep making more. Thinking and praying for you both.
Your Mom

Condolences
My condolences to Holly & Leslie. I remember your parents well as they shopped in the Parkesburg Acme when I worked there during and after high school. Your mother was a beautiful woman inside and out, and she certainly passed it along to her daughters. Take care:)
My thoughts are with you
Leslie and Holly, I'm thinking of you in this time of loss. Your Mom was a wonderful woman and always so kind to me. I'll never forget the summers spent at your pool with your grandmom Louise and all of your family. It was your mom who taught me to swim and that turned out to be the one sport I was good at! She was an excellent swim instructor! Dr. Seuss said "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened".

Dear Leslie & Holly ~
How many memories we have of our time on the volleyball courts! Our travels to tournaments near & far with the support of your parents & Pops!! Your Mom was especially gracious when some of us just "dropped by" for a visit with them in their jammies one Christmas holiday evening ❤ She truly was so caring, watchful & loving to us all! Mary
