Phyllis Ann Miller
Phyllis Ann Miller 76, of Parkesburg, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, July 26, 2023. Born on July 17, 1947 in Coatesville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Philip Dickinson and Margaret Dickinson-Ferguson. She had five brothers whom she enjoyed spending time with, and they adored their one and only baby sister. Phyllis attended Octorara Area Schools. She was a member of Mt Zion AME Church, Atglen, PA. Phyllis discovered her passion to read at a young age and continued to be an avid reader up until her health started to decline. She enjoyed exploring her mind through different reads and completing puzzles. Her request was always if the puzzle is less than 1000 pieces “I don’t want it” At the age of 14 she met the love of her life, and they were married on July 31, 1963 and have kept this covenant for 60 years. During this union they were blessed with four children. Becoming a mother, was just the beginning of her passion for caregiving. Phyllis loved people. Her home was known by all as the as the place to go. Her door was always open and she welcomed you with opened arms. She was a person that was relatable, transparent, giving, and most of all loving. She would tell you like it is, never biting her tongue or sugarcoating anything while at the same time she would feed you ensure that you were comfortable and created a presence that made you feel warm, safe and ultimately special.
For 30+ years Phyllis was the family caregiver and anytime someone needed care she was the first to unselfishly jump for the job. She did it without hesitation, and never waited for help, she was the help. In her free time she enjoyed going to casinos, hosting and playing poker games, and traveling. She also enjoyed her daily visits to the Mobile to see Sonny. She love to dance and knew all the line dances. She love to Bopp, especially with her two cousins Jake “Arnold” Hammond, and Robert “Bobby” Folks. Phyllis had the type of personality that would stamp your heart because everything that she did was with love and intention.
Phyllis leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Roger Miller, Parkesburg; PA. Two daughters, Deonna Harrell (Brett) Downingtown, PA; Celestine Tena Miller, (Quran), Parkesburg; One brother, Frederick Dickinson (Ruby) Camden, Arkansas; Daughter-in-law, Danielle Miller of Albuquerque, New Mexico. 12 Grandchildren, Brandon, Brianna, Chris (Adrianne), Paris, Deja Marie (Siale), Jalen (Maria), Donte, Trae, Quran, John, Devon and Tyler. Six great grandchildren, and one great great grandson, her sister-in-laws, Bonnie, Leona, Joan and Allison Dickinson, Brenda McKinney (Roy) and Beverly Powell. She is also survived by a special granddaughter in love who adored her mom-mom and took great care of her Adeja Morris.
