Miss Ruth R. Keneagy, 77, passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2011 at the Brandywine Hospital after a short illness. She was the daughter of the late John Elias Keneagy and Lillie Mae Sowers Keneagy. She was born on September 19, 1933 in West Sadsbury Township, Chester County.
Ruth had been a resident of Pocopson Home since May 20, 1965. According to Pocopson Home records, Miss Keneagy had lived at the home longer than any other resident. She enjoyed singing, making up her own songs, attending church services, crocheting, making craft items, painting ceramics and playing bingo especially when she would win.
She was a member of the Olivet Methodist Church in Coatesville.
Miss Keneagy was preceded in death by a brother, Bertram (Bud) Keneagy and three sisters, Arlene F. McKee, Pauline Hess and Thelma Rodgers. She is survived by a sister, Mary S. Miller and sister in law, Esther Keneagy and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the Social Worker Services, the nursing staff, the aids and all the volunteers for the loving care they all gave Ruth the past 46 years while she was a resident of Pocopson Home.
Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family after the cremation. Interment will be at the Kinzer Mennonite Cemetery in Kinzer, Pa., where she will be buried alongside her mother.

It was during my educational
It was during my educational rotation that I was Blessed with the great pleasure of providing care for Ruth a DEAR SOUL. When you are a student you are assigned random individuals. Towards the end of my rotation we were asked by our instructor if there was anyone that we had an interest in revisiting. Ruth was everyone's favorite. I thought I might have to duel for her. Ruth loved having her hair in a pony tail, tucked up in her hat and sporting her green glasses was a must. I remember grabbing a certain sweatshirt out of her closet for her and she promptly informed me that she only wore that one on Bingo day and it was not Bingo day, too cute! I am sorry for your families loss but I am certain that heaven is rejoicing! God Bless!

To Ruth's family -- We were so sorry to hear about Ruth. She was one of my Grandmother's (Rose Raffier) roommates at Pocopson for five years from 1993 to 1997. She was such a sweet lady.
