Michael Joseph Gustis, 72, of Parkesburg, formerly of Philadelphia, died at his home on Saturday, April 30, 2016. He was the widower of the late Georgiann Paxson Gustis who died in 2014. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Albert Gustis, Sr. and Josephine Bartnowski Gustis.
Mike spent most of his life in Philadelphia and was employed by the Philadelphia Fire Department retiring in 1996 with 32 years of service as a firefighter.
He was a member of Our Lady of Consolation Church.
He is survived by four children; Paula Ann, wife of the late Warren Kelley of Albrightsville, PA, Christine, wife of Stanley Pennypacker of Malvern, Michael Gustis and wife Gabrielle of Parkesburg, and George Gustis of Parkesburg and four grandchildren; Montana Gustis, Nadya Soliman, Joseph Soliman and Sophia Gustis. He was preceded in death by a daughter Susan Gustis and one brother Albert "Sonny" Gustis, Jr.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, May 6, 2016 at 11am from Our Lady of Consolation Church, 603 W. 2nd Ave., Parkesburg, PA with visitation from 10am to the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to the Charitable Trust Local 22 Widows' Fund, 415 N. 5th St., Philadelphia, PA 19123.
