Mary Elizabeth (Stanley) Helm, 78, of Gap, passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at the Brandywine Hospital. She was the widow of the late John E. Helm, Sr., who passed away in 1995.
Born in Compass, she was the daughter of the late John B. and Sara F. Haas Stanley. She was employed by the former Cardinal Cottons Factory in the late 1960's, and then for the Coatesville Area School District in the cafeteria in the 1970's. She was a member of the St. John's Episcopal Church in Compass.
She is survived by her three children: John E. Helm Jr., husband of Kathy of New Holland, and Kenneth J. Helm, fiancé of Debbie Potthoff, of West Grove, PA and Mary Ann Corcoran, wife of Edward, of Gap, PA, with whom she had resided; grandchildren, Heather Rowell, wife of Kevin, of New Holland, Timothy Corcoran, husband of Wanda, of Thorndale, Scott Helm of Narvon, Kelly Newman, wife of Alex, of Germany, Ryan Corcoran, of Downingtown, Melissa Helm, Amanda Helm, and Jennifer Helm all of Narvon; great grandchildren, Katelynn Funari, Hunter Rowell, Jacob Rowell, all of New Holland, and Cody Helm of Lancaster.
Mary was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Barbara Jean Helm and her siblings, Allen K. Stanley, Helen S. Baldwin, Dorothy P. Ammon, and John B. Stanley, Jr.
The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 24, 2009 at 2 PM at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St., Parkesburg, followed by interment in the St. Johns Episcopal Cemetery in Compass. Family and friends are invited to attend the viewing, which will be held at the Funeral Home from 1 until 2 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mary's memory to either the American Diabetes Association, Southeastern PA Office, One Plymouth Meeting, Suite 520, Plymouth Meeting, Pa. 19462 or to the American Heart Association, 625 W. Ridge Pike #100, Conshohocken, PA 19428.
