Marion Helen Toombs

Marion Helen Toombs, 94, of Lancaster, passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2009 at the Larkin Chase Nursing and Rehab Center in Bowie, MD. She was the widow of the late Kermit N. Toombs, who passed away in 1981.

Born on September 10, 1915 in Sadsbury Twp., she was the daughter of the late George and Alice Dickinson Whetts. A resident of Lancaster for 61 years, she was retired from the R.C.A. of Lancaster. Marion was a member of the Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church of Atglen, serving in the Missionary Society.

She is survived by her daughter, Alice E. Thompson of Kettering, Md., two grandsons, Michael and Kevin Thompson; one great grandson, David L. Thompson and her stepsister, Thelma Thompson. She was predeceased by her four sisters, and three brothers.

The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church of Atglen, followed by interment in the adjoining cemetery. Family and friends are invited to attend the viewing, which will be held from 9 until 11 AM.
