Marie Smith

Marie Smith, 89, of Cochranville, Pa., passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2014 at her home.  

Marie was formerly a resident of Long Island, N.Y. and upon her retirement moved to Cochranville in 1989.  

In N.Y., she was employed at Chase Manhattan Bank for her entire career.  She was active in a number of functions, such as V.P. and Secretary at Chase's Bank Club, as well as Women's Chairman of the American Institute of Banking, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star all of her life.  She also was Secretary of the Young Republicans on Long Island for several years.

In Cochranville, she was an active member on many levels with the Cochranville U.M. Church, as well as over 10 years Program Chairman of Parkesburg Area Senior Citizens, the Golden Agers Chorus, the Woman's Auxiliary of Cochranville Fire Co. and the Red Hatters.  She loved to travel and went home to Long Island at least once a year and loved life in general, being outgoing and friendly.  

She leaves behind several nieces and great cousins on Long Island and many dear friends here in Penn.  She was predeceased by her two sisters, Anne and Viola.  

The Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, December 14 at 12 noon at the Cochranville U.M. Church, 92 Church St, Cochranville, PA 19330.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Wilde Funeral Home of Parkesburg.
