Marianne Cotsifas

Marianne Cotsifas, 85, of Coatesville, PA passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at the Seasons Hospice in Phoenixville, PA.   She was the wife of the late Anastasios "Tasos" Cotsifas.  Born in Athens, Greece in 1935, she was the daughter of the late Angelos and Christina Kulouriotou. 

She is survived by a daughter, Christina Cotsifas of Coatesville. A brother, Gregory Zambaras, husband of Victoria of Coatesville.   Her nephews:  Gregory C. Zambaras husband of Greta; Constantinos (Taki) Zambaras; Taki Doutsouli of Athens Greece. Her nieces:  Kristin A. Zambaras Cusamano wife of Darin, children - Adriana and Alexander; Nicole Zambaras Gorney wife of Brian, children – Cameron, Caitlyn, Andrew, Cara.  Also her sister-in-law, Maria Makris, and her best friend and sister-in-law, Litsa Doutsouli both of Athens, Greece.   

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Helen her husband Tasos and her mother Christina and father, Angelos.   

Marianne was born in Athens Greece on August 14th 1935.    After losing her father at a young age, her mother Christina married Costas Zambaras and eventually the family immigrated to New South Wales, Australia in the mid-1950s.   She met her husband, Anastasios “Tasos” Cotsifas while still in Greece.  He was the brother of her best friend, Litsa Doutsouli.   Marianne married Tasos in New South Wales shortly after he immigrated to Australia.  They were married 55 years until Tasos passed away in December 2012.    It was in Australia where her first daughter, Helen was born but tragically died shortly thereafter.  A little while later, her daughter Christina was born.   She was a devoted wife and mother.    In 1974, Marianne and her family immigrated to Coatesville, Pennsylvania to be closer with the rest of her family.   Marianne enjoyed being a home maker.    She loved to and had a knack for decorating her home and took great pride in doing so.  She also used to work as a waitress both in Australia and also part-time in the family business – the Midway restaurant until she retired in the mid-1980s.   When her husband was still alive, Marianne enjoyed going out on leisurely drives in the beautiful countryside of Lancaster County and continued to enjoy doing so with her daughter until the time of her death.  She enjoyed marveling at all of God’s creation from the vegetation to the all the animals.   Marianne enjoyed traveling and traveled back to Greece several times and loved going to Hawaii with her daughter, Christina.   

Most importantly, Marianne was a faithful servant of Jehovah God.  She attended the East Coatesville Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses on Reeceville Road in Coatesville.    She learned about Jehovah initially through her mother Christina and through her subsequent studies of the Bible with servants of Jehovah.  She dedicated her life and was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in January of 1961 in Australia.   She loved to read and thoroughly study the Bible and all of the Christian publications.  She loved to tell others about Jehovah and His promises and the beautiful future that is ahead of us.  She held tight to the promise that God’s Kingdom will eliminate all sickness, pain, sadness and ultimately the last enemy death will be no more.  Her faith of the resurrection here on earth was solid and could not be shaken. (John 11:25, Revelation 21:3,4) 

Marianne will always be remembered as a faithful wife, devoted mother and good friend to many and especially for her warm and heart-felt comments during the Watchtower study.
