Marian R. Lindquist, 91, of Willow Street, passed away on Sunday, March 4, 2012 at the Lancaster County Hospice Center in Mt. Joy. She was the widow of the late Eric A. Lindquist, Jr. who died in 2004.

Born in Lincoln University, PA she was the daughter of the late Wesley A. and Susan Miller Galloway.

Marian was a 1938 graduate of the Oxford High School and then she continued her education at Goldey Beacom College.

After school, she worked for Hercules, Inc. of Wilmington, DE, and later the Lukens Steel Co. in Coatesville. She retired in 1985 from the Octorara School District where she was employed for 22 years as a secretary to the superintendent.

Marian was an active member of the Penningtonville Presbyterian Church in Atglen where she belonged to the WCTU and the Triangle Class and she also taught Bible School. More recently, Marian attended the First Presbyterian Church of Strasburg where she enjoyed being a part of the Circle Group. She also attended the Bible Study Group at Willow Valley. She was an avid book reader most of her life.

She is survived by four children, Eric A. Lindquist, III of Newark, Ernest W. Lindquist and wife Beverly of Lititz, D. Peary Lindquist and wife Adrian of Lancaster and Martha Lindquist Burke of Newark, DE, nine grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and one sister Helen, wife of Walter Soliwoda of West Grove, PA. She was preceded in death by five siblings; Reba Morton, Irene Thomas, Harold, George and Adeline Galloway.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, March 9, 2012 at 3:00 pm from the First Presbyterian Church of Strasburg, 101 S. Decatur St. in Strasburg, PA 17579 with visitation after the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Lancaster County, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604 - 4125  or the First Presbyterian Church of Strasburg at the above address.

Perry, Adrian and family....You have my deepest sympathty in the loss of Perry's beloved mother. I have many fond memories of her from when we all worked at Octorara. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Your Mother was a most gracious lady and I will always remember our last visit when we went to lunch and visited in her home afterwards. May she Rest in Peace.
