Hayes Todd Pfitzenmeyer, Jr.
Hayes Todd Pfitzenmeyer Jr. 95, formerly of Coatesville, passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at his residence at Garden Spot Village, New Holland Pennsylvania. Born in Sadsburyville, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Hayes Todd Pfitzenmeyer Sr. and Eva Earnshaw Pfitzenmeyer.
Todd was a 1947 graduate of the former Scott High School in Coatesville and a 1951 graduate of Randolph Macon College, Virginia. In 1951 he enlisted in the US Army and served in the Korean War. Later, he continued his education, receiving a master's degree from Pennsylvania State University.
He was on faculty at the University of Maryland as a professor and researcher in marine biology and lived in Solomon’s Island, Maryland for over 30 years. He was a member of the Prince Frederick (Maryland) Masonic Lodge. He retired in 1985 and lived full time at his beloved Ox Meadow Farm in West Caln Township Pennsylvania.
He is survived by one sister; Rhoda Dalton of Virginia Beach Virginia, nephew Dr. Joseph Dalton of Virginia Beach Virginia and three nieces; Mary Margaret Stansbury Poole of Dunedin Florida, Candace Stansbury Ross of Coatesville Pennsylvania, and Lezah Stansbury Dowhower of Elizabethtown Pennsylvania. He has many grand nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Hazel Stansbury and a nephew, Richard Stansbury.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Upper Octorara Cemetery, 357 Octorara Road, Parkesburg, Pennsylvania.
