Edward C. Smith

Edward C. Smith, 92, of Parkesburg, entered into rest on Saturday, May 29, 2010, at the Coatesville V.A. Hospice Center.  He was the husband of Mary Martz Smith, with whom he shared 72 years of marriage.

Born in Williamstown, Pa. he was the son of the late Edward H. and Anna Witman Smith.
Mr. Smith served honorably in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He had been a resident of Parkesburg since 1949 and was a member of the Parkesburg United Methodist Church, the Brandywine Goddard F&AM Lodge #383 of Coatesville and the Rajah Temple of Reading.

Ed was employed by J.D. Eckman Company of Atglen as a supervisor and a equipment operator, retiring in 1988 after many years of service.

He is survived, in addition to his wife, by a son, Edward C. Smith and wife Peggy of Parkesburg, two grandsons, Edward C. Smith, III and Scott Lake Smith and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.

 Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at 11:00am from the Wilde Funeral Home 434 Main St. Parkesburg followed by interment at Fairview Cemetery in Williamstown, PA. Relatives and friends are also invited to attend the viewing at the funeral Home from 10:00 am to the time of the service.  Masonic services will be conducted at the Funeral Home at 10:45 am.
