From your Nova Scotia Family
Our family feels like we have a missing piece today with the loss of our dear friend Beverly Karlsson.
Bev Karlsson has been in my life since before I have memories. She was like an Aunt that we visited with through my childhood.
Our move to the country brought her into our daily lives in a bigger way. Our visits to her funny farm with its beautiful garden and variety of animals created lots of memories.
Bev had a passion for education, having taught special needs students and many different courses (she especially loved high school Art and English). She and I spent an hour and half driving together to West Pictou each day during my grade nine year.
When she retired, she passed along so many resources to me and then we got to teach together (her as a substitute) after I graduated.
Bev spent her summers with our family after her move to the states. She calmly slipped into our wild extended family routines. I will always love the Girls’ Nights we were able to have each summer.
It has not been long since Bev’s diagnosed illness. While we are relieved she didn’t suffer long, it breaks all of our hearts that she was out of our reach during those final days. We would have all been at her bedside if we could have.
Bev, you left your mark on so many children during your career. And your numerous friends and neighbours will miss your visits and caring chats. This summer will be a little less bright without you in it.
