Richard Lee Donnell Sr., 69, of Gap, PA, passed away at his home on Monday, December 25, 2023.  He was the companion of Roseann Karmilowicz for over 17 years.  Born in West Chester, PA, he was the son of the late Jacque F. Donnell and Priscilla F. Mattson Donnell.

Richard graduated from Coatesville High School Class of 1972 and worked for forty years as a machinist for Somat Company in Lancaster, PA. He enjoyed his Springer Softail motorcycle along with hunting and trout fishing.  He was a member of the Christiana American Legion S.A.L., the Polish American Citizens Club, the Eastern Lancaster County Rod and Gun Club, and the Gap VFW. He also loved to give ladies Hershey kisses!

In addition to his companion, Roseanne, he is survived by his children, Richard Jr. (Tara) Donnell of Coatesville, PA, and Rhonda Altland, of Landenberg, PA, grandchildren, Dakota, Mark, Stephen, and Shane, siblings, Larry (Sharon) Donnell of Coatesville, Jacque (Shelly) Donnell of Christiana, PA, Michael Donnell of Paradise, PA, and Joseph (Kathy) Donnell of Kamas, UT, and life-long friend Greg "Sparky" Rubincan. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Barbara and Kathy, and his first wife Donna Friel Donnell.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024, from 12:00 noon until 4:00 p.m. at the Christiana Legion, 219 Newport Ave., Christiana, PA, 17509.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Christiana Legion at the above address.

We are so very sorry for your loss. Rick was one of the sweetest man we have ever met. We always called him "Ornery". he was a great friend and we enjoyed riding motorcycles with him. He will be forever missed. RIP Rick.

I’m sorry for your loss , Rick was a good man and I alway enjoyed talking to him at the VFW when we crossed paths, I remember as a kid he loved his VW Bug.
