I wish that I wasn't at such a loss for words, I wish that I was able to process all this but it just hasn't sunk in yet. If it had, I'd go to great lengths to express just how tremendous this loss is, not only to me personally, but to everyone who knew him.

I love him, I'll miss him and I'll never forget him. Goodnight Chief.

There's no other way to describe Chief Winters. A mentor to many, he always was willing to teach firefighters, both young and old. Rest easy my friend...we'll take it from here.

To a good friend and my former Chief, it is with a sad and heavy heart that I send my deepest sympathy to Bill's family. He will be sorely missed in the fire service. It was a pleasure to serve with him at Station 26. I will always remember the times we had serving the public. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

I am so sorry for your loss Bill. It was such a pleasure to be able to care for your father for the time that I did. He had so many great stories and he was always a hoot. He kept us nurses on our toes. He was a great spirit that will truly be missed.

I remember working with Bill as county dispatcher. He taught me a lot and I will always remember his heart of gold for everyone. We had a lot of good laughs. He was one that would always be there to lend a helping hand. He will be missed by many. I know that him and "Pop Winters" will be watching over all of us and will let the fire fighters know when they are doing something wrong. R.I.P. Bill
