 Richard J. “Dick” Kneib, 84, of Coatesville, died on Thursday, June 3, 2010 at the Coatesville VA Hospice Unit. He was the loving husband of Gertrude Walters Kneib, his beloved wife of many years. Born in Frackville on July 20, 1925, he was the son of the late Joseph and Margaret Flearl Kneib.
 During WWII he enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the age of 17, serving on the USS Bon Homme Richard and the USS Alabama as a gunner’s mate. At the Invasion of Normandy on D-Day, he drove a landing craft onto the beaches. He received numerous ribbons and medals.
 After the war, he returned home to Frackville High School to complete is 12th year and received his high school diploma.
 Dick was the owner and operator of his TV service and repair business, RJK TV, for over 30 years. Before his retirement, he worked as a security guard at Budd Co., Immaculata College and Matthey-Bishop Co.
 He was a member of St. Cecilia’s Church in Coatesville. He enjoyed all sports, watching his beloved Notre Dame and the Philadelphia Eagles.
 He is survived, in addition to his wife; by five children, Patricia, wife of David Willmott of Downingtown, Richard T. Kneib and wife Donna of Coatesville, Linda, wife of David Eshleman of Downingtown, Ronald Kneib of Frackville and Cheryl, wife of Carl Marshall of Coatesville; six grandchildren, Michael Kneib, Kristin Herr, Timothy Kneib, Carly and Jarrett Marshall and Tyler Kneib; two step-grandchildren, Shawn and Ryan Eshleman; one great-granddaughter, Alexis Herr; and two sisters, Christine Lane of Southhampton and Margaret Gaughan of Frackville.
 He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Elizabeth Ann Kneib, two brothers, Joseph and Thomas, and one sister, Mary Ellen Patton.
 A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 7, from St. Cecilia’s Church, 6th Ave. and Chestnut St., Coatesville, followed by interment with full military honors at St. Cecilia’s Cemetery.
 Family and friends are also invited to attend the viewing from 10 a.m. to the time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Coatesville VA Hospice Unit, 1400 Blackhorse Hill Rd., Coatesville, PA 19320.
