Vera Marple, 84, of Thorndale, passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2011 at the Neighborhood Hospice Center of West Chester.
She was the widow of the late John Marple, who passed away in 1978 after they had shared 30 years of marriage.
Born in Bel Air, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late James V. and Gussie (Joines) Yale.
Vera was a graduate of the Calvert School and the Coatesville Hospital School of Nursing. She was employed by the Child Development Center of Coatesville as a Teacher's Aide.
Vera was a member of the New London Baptist Church.
She is survived by her two children, Raymond Marple, husband of Lisa, Edward Marple, husband of Doris; three grandchildren, John Marple and Joel and Anne Vazquez; one great grandchild on the way; and four siblings, William Yale, husband of June, James Yale, husband of Phyllis, Franklin Yale, Mildred Sprankle, wife of Howard.
She was predeceased by one grandson, James Marple; two sisters and two brothers.
The Funeral Service will held on Friday, December 16, 2011 at 11 AM at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St., Parkesburg, followed by interment in the Philadelphia Memorial Park of Frazer. Family and friends are invited to the viewing from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

Memories
When I first met Vera, her first question to me was, what is it you like about Ed? I said everything, he's a great guy. From then on we just “clicked”, she accepted me into her heart and helped me in every way she could with her wisdom and advice.
One of the fondest memories I have was also my Dad's last thanksgiving, as we gathered around the home-made table that Ed made, and my Dad was settled in front of the television, Vera started saying grace, right in the middle, my Dad is telling us how good the turkey was, and we all tried not to laugh including Vera.
I will miss her visits, sitting on the swing and chatting, she's done a lot for Ed and I, as blending families together can be difficult, she did her best to smooth the way and for that I will be forever grateful.

Vera was truly a treasure whom we will all miss very deeply. There was never a time that she did not ask how everyone was doing, she never passed judgement on anyone, she was an extremely kind and gentle lady. I will miss the way she would say, "Now Lori, I worry about you, you need to take care and i will pray for you, my dear ! She never left the hair shop without giving all of us a hug. Yesterday, as I was going through my mail. I came across a Christmas card from Vera. That card is now in my Bible where it will forever stay, for it is a card from an angel named Vera. Rest in peace, my friend. I love you.
