Thomas F. McCann, 59, of Avondale, PA, passed away suddenly on Sunday, October 30, 2022, in West Chester, PA.  He was the husband of Mary Claudy McCann for over 29 years.  Born in Trenton, NJ, he was the son of Joseph McCann and the late Rose Larkin McCann of Levittown, PA.

Thomas received his undergrad from Penn State and his masters from the University of San Diego.  He worked in sales for 30+ years selling industrial equipment.  He was a member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in West Grove, PA.

Thomas’s greatest joy in life was his four daughters, he was so proud of the way they excelled in their academics and was their biggest supporter at every sporting event. He was always on the sidelines cheering for “the smashers”. Thomas was an incredible craftsman and could always be found in his home workshop fixing anything and everything, even if it wasn’t broken. Anytime he was working on a project you could find his helper dogs (Belle, Ash, and Charlie) right by his side waiting to assist. Tom loved riding around on one of his triumph motorcycles admiring the back country roads of Chester County and in the summers, he would ride to the Chesapeake, spending his afternoon watching the boats on the water.

In addition to his wife and father, he is survived by his daughters, Jane, Sarah, Emily, and Annmarie. As well as his siblings, Joseph (Jay) McCann of Philadelphia, Marie McCann of Langhorne, Justina Sponder (Ken Sponder) of Alabama, Rita McKeon (Mike McKeon) of Maryland, Michael McCann (Peggy McCann) of North Carolina, and Jane Kaltenbach (Chris Kaltenbach) of Wisconsin and his many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 7, 2022, at 12:00 pm at St. Patrick Parish Catholic Church, 212 Meredith St., Kennett Square, PA.  Visitation will be held on Sunday November 6th from 2-4pm at Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St.,Parkesburg, PA. Condolences

To the McCann family - while no one can truly understand the loss that you are feeling, please know that all of us are ready to support you in any way we can during this terrible time. Even though I never had the pleasure of meeting Thomas, the stories and affection that Emily has shared with us make it abundantly clear just how impressive Thomas was in life, which is why I hope you are celebrating him in death. As a father myself, I can only hope to raise children with the drive, dedication and integrity that Thomas and Mary.

We are deeply saddened by the sudden death of Mr. McCann. His early departure is so unfortunate and he will be missed very much. We met him a few times and immediately recognize his daughters’ smiles from his own. We hope to provide comfort to his family and friends during this difficult time.
