William John Saganich
William John Saganich, 80, of Lincoln University, PA, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2022 at Seasons Hospice in Wilmington Hospital, Wilmington, Delaware after a brave 6 month fight. He was the widower of the late Margaret F. Saganich who preceded him in death in 2019. They shared 50 years of marriage together.
Bill was born in 1941 to the late William J. Saganich and the late Mary Caligiuri Saganich. He lived his early years in the Pocono Mountains, where he enjoyed fixing and racing his corvette as well as playing the guitar. He started working in the family mushroom business as a child and continued the legacy as an adult.
Bill was a 1961 graduate of the Pocono Catholic Missions High School. A local area resident most of his life, he will be fondly remembered by those involved in the mushroom industry as a self-employed mushroom grower with the Delaware Mushroom Corp., of Hockessin, DE and later To-Jo Mushrooms, Inc. of Avondale, PA.
Bill never planned to retire, as his friends in the mushroom industry were like family and he enjoyed every day with them. He also enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters and taught them at a young age how to grow shiitake mushrooms. They inherited his sense of humor, his love of pranking others, as well as his strong work ethic.
He is survived, by his daughters, Monica, wife of Scott Philistine of Lincoln University and Christina, fiancé of Mike Hughes of Oxford, two granddaughters, Alyssa Marie Miller and Haley Joan Miller both of Oxford, three brothers; Raymond J. Saganich of Wilmington, DE, Daniel J. Saganich of Lincoln University, PA, and Michael J. Saganich, husband of Dawn of Lincoln University, PA and one sister MaryAnn Marie, wife of Robert Kellett as well as his beloved grand-pups Schatzi, Dixi, Dutch and Melo along with many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 22, 2022 at 10:00 AM at the Sacred Heart Church, 203 Church Rd, Oxford, PA 19363 followed by interment at the Oxford Cemetery. There will be a visitation at the church from 9:00 AM until the time of the service.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Wilde Funeral Home, Parkesburg, PA. Online condolences can be posted at www.wildefuneralhome.com
In lieu of flowers the family would encourage donations be made to the American Mushroom Institute’s CAC Scholarship Fund 1284 Gap Newport Pile #2 Avondale, PA 19311 or the Avon Grove Lions Club 600 N. Baker Station Road West Grove PA 19390.

We've lost a true friend
I was very lucky to have the opportunity to work with Bill at To-Jo Mushrooms. He would go out of his way to help me out and always had that twinkle in his eye, ready to joke around for a chuckle. I'll miss hearing him call me "Chuckmoe" My deepest sympathy to his family at this time.
