William B. Cochran, 88, of Honey Brook, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at his home. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth M. McLellan Cochran who died in 2007. Born in Centerville, Alabama, he was the son of the late Henry and Lilly Terry Cochran.
Bill enlisted in the US Army in 1939 and served throughout most of WWII as a heavy equipment operator. He was stationed at Pearl Harbor during the Japanese attack on Dec. 7, 1941.
Mr. Cochran worked most of his life as a heavy equipment operator in the mining and construction fields. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses of New Holland.
He is survived by three children; Karen L., wife of Clarence Roberts, of Wagontown, William H. Cochran, and wife Bonnie of Reading and Debbie A. Shoemaker of Carlisle; eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren and three siblings; Ada Dee Kynard of Selma, AL., Harrison Cochran also of Selma and Fay Franklin of Calera, AL. He was preceded in death by one sister Daisy Lee Wackel.
A memorial service will be held for Bill on Saturday April 11, 2009 at 2 p.m. from the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 530 New Holland Rd., New Holland, PA 17557. Interment will be at the Indiantown Gap VA National Cemetery.
